Jay Z: “Glory” featuring B.I.C

Jay Z released a song this morning with a sample of his daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, on the track.  It’s such a beautiful song we just had to post it! Enjoy

“You’re a child of destiny, you’re the child of destiny. You’re my child with the child from Destiny’s child, that’s a hell of a recipe”

Music is my… Inspiration (part II)

“Music is the only form of art that visually and viscerally stimulate your mind, heart and soul.
Music makes the people come together”

It’s almost hard to remember the first time you heard a song that moved you; or the first time you heard a song that truly and completely summed up something you were going through, wanted to do, couldn’t do… Music, for all it’s feel good power, is an art form that truly transcends, partly because of the emotions it elicits, and partly because of the emotions listeners tie to it.  That is the premise for our introductory female line: blurring the lines of the emotions and culture in music.  With sayings like “Music is my aphrodisiac”, and most notably the “I’m Old School” tee shirts that reference vinyls, Jay Z lyrics, pursuing one’s passion, and what women want in their men – Established Mayhem Clothing is attempting to blur the lines and redefine the definition of sexy, cool, and yes, artistic.

The inspiration for the ladies line is a throwback to the old, more casual days of fashion, i.e. The 70’s and 80’s when it was okay to rock a fashionable tee, some jeans, and leave your hair unkempt.  Essentially, we’re saying that being intelligent, hard working, and casual is cool – but you can still slut it up if you want. Because, who doesn’t want to throw on a dress every now and then? Women in and around the music industry have managed to maintain their flawless appeal while balancing the casualness of fashion, and as a result, we have compiled a list of the songs and artists who served as the inspiration for our introductory line of female fashions.  The artists on this list were not sole inspirations, just the ones who stuck out as being women who were able to maintain their cool, while building their brands.
